Chest Binder Sizing Chart Australia - Find Your Perfect Fit

Getting your binder size right is the most important step in safe, comfortable binding. A binder that is too small can restrict breathing and cause long-term skin issues. One that is too large will not flatten effectively. This guide walks you through how to measure for a binder and how to read our size chart. For full safe binding guidance, read our Fit & Safety Guide.

How to Measure for a Chest Binder

Step 1 — Get your tools ready

You will need a soft fabric measuring tape. If you do not have one, a piece of string or a phone charger cable and a ruler will work just as well.

Step 2 — Measure your chest

Stand upright with your arms relaxed at your sides. Wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your chest — usually across the nipples — keeping it parallel to the floor. Hold the tape snug but not compressing. Breathe normally and note the measurement in centimetres.

Step 3 — Compare to the size chart

Find your chest measurement in the BQ size chart below. If you fall between two sizes, always choose the larger one.

Tips for Getting the Right Size

  • Measure in centimetres for the most accurate result

  • Measure over bare skin, not over clothing

  • Measure twice and use the larger measurement if they differ

  • Between sizes? Always go up, never down

  • New to binding? Starting with the larger size gives you more room to adjust

Common Sizing Questions

What size binder should I get?

Base your size on your full chest measurement using the BQ chart above — not your clothing size. Clothing sizes vary significantly between brands and styles, so they are not a reliable guide for binder sizing.

I don’t have a tape measure. What can I use?

Use a piece of string or a phone charger cable. Wrap it around the fullest part of your chest, mark the point where it meets, then lay it flat against a ruler or straight edge and measure the length in centimetres.

What if I am between two sizes?

Always choose the larger size. A binder that is slightly loose is safer and more comfortable than one that is too tight. You can use the compression clips or clasp rows on adjustable styles to fine-tune the fit once you receive your order.
